A well attended AGM on 22nd November 2008 rounded off a very successful year of interesting and stimulating lectures and field trips and an increased membership of 25 new members. After the business side of the AGM was concluded refreshments were enjoyed followed by 3 short presentations by members.
Our programme for 2009 will commence on Thursday February 26th 2009 with a talk by Dr Hilary Walklett from Lancaster University entitled “Jiggers and Spelks: The Ports of Morecambe Bay, a trip through time looking at the effect that sea-trade had on life around the bay”.

and more, a talk by Dr Michael Winstanley of Lancaster University
Oct. 29th “The Families of Holker” by Janet Smith
Nov. 19th AGM – Refreshments and short presentations by members

All lectures are on Thursdays in Cartmel Village Hall and start at 7.30pm,
there is ample parking and easy access and new members and visitors are
always made most welcome. The annual subscription is a modest £6. It is
an excellent way to join a friendly group and learn about the history of
your area; the speakers pass on their knowledge in an interesting and
enjoyable manner.
